Seminar – Nordic Nexus 2024
Following my participation in the 2024 Tallinn Architecture Biennale, I was invited by the Faculty of Architecture at Cyprus International University to deliver a seminar under the title Nordic Nexus 2024. The seminar was an opportunity to share insights from the biennale—where themes such as robotic architecture, ecological construction systems, and experimental design practices were at the forefront—while also expanding the discussion with my personal architectural explorations in Northern Europe.
A central highlight of my talk was my visit to the Oodi Helsinki Central Library in Finland, a landmark of contemporary architecture that exemplifies both structural ingenuity and user-centered design. I presented my architectural analysis of the building’s structural systems, the spatial adaptability of its interiors, and its seamless integration of cultural, social, and technological functions. Beyond its engineering achievements, I reflected on the user experience, demonstrating how public architecture can foster inclusivity, engagement, and a sense of belonging.
Through Nordic Nexus 2024, I aimed to bring international perspectives back to Cyprus and create a platform for dialogue with students and colleagues about the future of architecture in our region. I strongly believe that sharing knowledge and experience with younger generations is a responsibility of architects and studios like ours, who are committed to continuous learning and professional growth.
